Goodbye Rodeo

I’ve had losses before in my life.
The kind that takes your heart,
rolls it inside out,
ties it to the back of
a Jeep Wrangler, and
runs through a cactus farm
seeing how many needles it will hold.
Never thought I’d grieve
like this over a dog, though.

Goodbye... I remember a saying: There is no completeness without sorrow... It goes deep.

So very well said. My last post was of the same vein. See Kadi. The feeling was as I've never felt before. It does get better though--remembering the life and the love.

my childhood friend died when i was a teenager. very traumatic. haven't been able to have another dog since . . . :(
but the poem, as always, is well done and uniquely your style.
