Not So Secret An Admirer

A friend of mine introduced me
to the words of Mary Oliver,
another Mary with words of her own.

They’re some of the greenest I’ve ever read,
like new born twigs with soft velvet leaves,
suckling on raindrops, nuzzling breasts of sun.

A pond is not just an ole fishin’ hole,
nor dogwood blooms a fancy Easter dress; they're
quaint little notes, left, by not so secret an admirer.

Some very nice descriptions, and I love the flow and pattern of tranquility you create through the words. Nicely done!

...appreciate the voice recording. My blind friend was by today and it was cool to let him hear these by the poet himself. Thanks.

Great Pat! I thought the tranquility was especially wonderful, coming as it is, third step out. It is a real tribute when that can be achieved.
