What do you do
when you’re created without a tail?
Obviously, you become a cat;
a cat named Zorro, furry, black and white.
It must’ve been hard
to grow up without a tail to chase, but
what foul air missed in swishes and twitches,
ears and long stretches made up with scratches.
To sleep forever for pearly white teeth,
is one way to slip out without saying goodbye.
But, you left everything cluttered with tears, now
your memory will have to clean up this mess.
( For my sister who just lost her cat)

Thanks,sweetie... Zorro could have no better tribute than a poem by his favorite uncle..As always, your abliity to write about any subject amazes me and makes me so proud of you..I love you..LA
You would think a former teacher could spell ability, wouldn't you...I will blame it on my faulty keyboard...LA

this reminds me of something my younger daughter said about tails last night. Not appropriate to print it here, though. :)

Nice sense of the cat comes across. You do pretty well with the human, too.
Nice poem, Zorro sounds like quite a cat
Sorry for her loss but your poem is priceless.

Great tribute for Zorro.
Hopeyour sister is alright.
a wonderful tribute. the first line really fits... and is emotionally loaded for me. Happy to be back reading your posts again. I see i have quite the backlog :)
ok,,, enough already! Get back here and post!'
cheers!
I wrote poems about my cats when they died, when I was little, but I lost those poems.
My worst memories are about lost cats. I still get teary eyed and my throat tenses up if I think about them.
What a beautiful poem, I still have a little sad piece inside for each of my lost cats. The last stanza is really so moving. You've captured his character and all the emotions so sucsinctly
