Bouncing Off The Walls

There’s no sun today
arcing high like a basketball
floating down
through the steel ring of afternoon
disappearing in the nylon strings of night.

Only thunder clouds that cover,
like a robber’s mask,
with a muffled voice rumbling
to hand over my joy,
especially the stash
I keep hidden in the dog‘s leash.

I understand why
we won’t be playing outside today,
but Murphy-- my Aussie--
could care less about basketball,
and the only thief he’ll be barking at is me.

same weather here! last night there were tornadoes across the state - between my wife and me. hope she gets home o.k. today.
(maybe I should get a dog. :)

Hee hee - good one Pat. You played with sun too long the other day - now he's gone!

I cannot tell you how much I enjoy reading your work. There is someting about it that makes me feel like I am reading a short story only to find it isn't one. I love how you put things together, adding those wondeful analogies as if understanding without it someone might not "get it". I am always satisfied when I leave here and thankfully so.

We have been in for days of clouds and rain, haven't we. but it is good my flowers love it. My cat just sleeps on the bed, enjoying whatever cats enjoy. My dog died last year so I don't have to take him on walks in the rain this year. Which he actually loved....and I didn't mind.

Good to see ya. I lost all my links when I changed my format. Just found you again.

I hate gloomy weather - it does make you feel robbed.
