Like a kid with a new toy
I launched a poem
from a harbor of thoughts.
It sailed the waves of louvered blinds,
quietly on the stain of a Mahogany sea.
It disappeared in a valence fog,
reappeared upside down
navigating the stipples of artic ceiling.
I feared the letters without arms and legs
might fall in my eye and never be seen again.
It flipped without incident
came straight down the wall, only to
run aground at three on the snag of a clock.
Fifteen ticks later it slid freed at six, and
digitally anchored in this e-cove screen.

Brilliant... reminds of ones you wrote many moons ago.
:) am lost.
I love peeking into your "study" through your poems! Playful and charming!
Like a kid with a new toy I came here to see your new poem! (really)
You are so good at describing things- wish I could do that.
Yes, this type of your poem that I like is familiar like Masago says. From the mahogany sea (I imagine of your desk) - a joy to read
i loved this
lots to play with...and astute insights to poetry launch :)

Launched a poem from harbour of thought...
Very striking, Pat..
You never know where they are going to wind up, or what detours they'll take along the way. The detours often turn out to be the best parts.
this reminds me how much i love your rich imagery and wry humour.
excellent stuff!
hello! ;)
Love the journey---the metaphor of poetry and sailing around a room--you're in good company with Billy Collins. It looks like I'll be in Atlanta between Christmas and New Years. Let me know if you're going to be around and have, since summer, washed your hands well, and interested in a beer
a vivid poetry Pat....
to say you are brilliant, is an understatement and i'm not going to be guilty of it! :)
happy holidays and wishing you truckloads of toys! :)
Wish you a Merry Christmas, Pat..

hi Pat!
your poetry never fails to light up my day :)
wanted you to knmow my blog moved due to some unfortunate circumstances, but I have not stopped writing. For an invite I will need an email address. If you are not comfortable with this that's cool, but it's the only way to keep it private between people I trust online and keep out stalkers and such. Appreciate your support over the years and keep blogging.
