Don’t Do windows

I’m lying in the gutter of this keyboard
begging for a long, hard drink of words;
swill from a rusty can of sentences, or
backwash from a brown bottle of lines,
anything to slake this blank page of thirst.
I’m not embarrassed to put it in print;
I am what I am wallowing between these keys.
Spare me a guzzle or two of letters,
I sure as hell won’t wash your windows,
but I will type out a line or two of verse.

not sure why but it put me in mind of two old songs
lead me where they play the blues
(i'm gettin' tired of sippin' wine and watchin' it bubble)
and
little ole wine-drinkin' me
(i'm sittin' in a honky in chicago feelin' lonely)
your "dry" spell has given us a fine poem - and turned my mind to liquid matters :)
cheers

Hey--if you are searching for inspiration--how about doing one of those memes that are going around? (like, oh, 8 random things about yourself...)

Honestly, I think this is why they were invented in the first place!

Good one! Glad you're back at it, Pat.

Hey, do you need a writing prompt? Here's one that I responded to recently: Write an apology to someone, or even yourself. Deb Powers, an east coast poet suggested this one.

its amazing how you can make poetry out of thin air, you certianly have Ms. Muse as your little [shsshhh] slave. :)

nice vivid images but the thought of backwash (which I remember from when my daughter was younger and drink from my water bottle) is disgusting! Thanks for the poem and chuckle and my the words flow through your fingers like a river through a gorge.
