When you pick
a flower in the woods,
you’re stealing its wild heart.
For a time it becomes yours,
pumping rain and soil
through the veins of your dreams.
It dies, they always do.
You don’t feel remorse,
nor mourn the bruised petals of beauty.
After all, it’s just a flower in the woods,
and tomorrow you’ll find another.

Beautiful, wih a lot of truth in it!:) Yes, you can do that with a flower in the woods. ... To find a flower that you simply can't pick. That would be something!:) Something of a shock even!? Well, what about my Christmas cactus. Two flowers have opened, finally. And what can I do!?:)gw
Yes, yes, yes!
AS you say..afterall it is only a flower. Who cries for one little flower?
YOur poetryhas more than meetsthe eye. Layers and nuances. I am thinking about all those.

you'll pick another, unless you happened to picked your flowers in a national park! Good poem!

i've stopped picking wild flowers some time ago... rather snap them with my camera.
I hate that saying "if friends were flowers, i'd pick you" because it sounds cruel!
Very sensitive, nicely worded.
