Ditch Litter

He lies
whiskey-whipped,
passed-out free
from hygiene’s vestments.
Burger King and Coke cans
cling to his ditch frame
like litter-on-a-stick.
Ticks feast
on rot-gut bounty,
an old dog sniffs away
from worse luck than his.
Heartbeat and habit,
his worldly goods,
sleep
child of God,
sleep.

One of your best, powerful ending, Pat.

Yeah Pat! The compasion here was really moving. We were able to overcome being strongly repelled with such a powerful ending. Definately one of your best,Great Work Pat!

Beautiful.
These poems flow so naturally from you. I struggle so hard for the words.
