Headless Words

I watched the two of them
chit and chatter
through bites
of lean something
on whole wheat toast.
They’d shrug and giggle,
chew and blabber;
it’s amazing the words
didn’t fall mangled on the table,
flopping like headless fish
in a gunk of mayo, meat and bread.

If I could turn the headless fish of my flopping words into flesh, I’d be rich… Great!

Nice poem, Pat - full of sound effects. You know what I mean. :)
