War Games

I watched the sun
wrestle chair shadows
on the front deck of my boat.
A territorial spat of sorts.
A constant back and forth,
with each side
winning and losing,
depending on the time of day.

The shadows of chairs is a lonely image although the tone of the poem is bright and doesn't reflect those images in the usual way. Shadow wars does sound ominous though. A 'scratch your head' poem. I liked it, Pat.

A unique view of an an ordinary experience.

I like shadows... in a way. Leaving the wrestling part to the sun. An afterthought - have my own inner shadows to wrestle with. Good one. The only war worth fighting. Me and my shadow...

I like this, too. Being a former sailer, at first the image took me by surprise (no room for chair up front on those unless REALLY big:-)...then it clicked. Very nice!

Pat, you have such a unique way of looking at the world, personifying each and every event and small, every day happening in your own neck of the worlds, giving voice to what usually is ignored, OR.....you had too much to drink! :) I vote for the latter.:) But good write.

I like this one a lot Pat. It is an observation that reminds me of times I have spent sipping coffee and watching the sun dance around the objects on my back porch as I fall in and out of sleep. I have never written it down, but always enjoy the experience. DAILY, :):)

Does anyone know WHY the word verification NEEDS to be so hard to read, I have done as many as three tries before I get the letters right. Is there some secret to figuring out the letters? Or am I just simple? hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm haha
