The Promise

I know I promised
to mop the kitchen floor.
I said I would,
I will, I will…

after I walk,
after I nap—
and anything else I think of.

If there’s time leftover
I’ll push and pull,
rinse and wring,
you have my word on it.

Most poets are part gypsy. If you need a reason to avoid certain things in your life (and we all do), then credit the gypsy within.

Not me anymore. Thanks Floots!!

Margie, I was only 2 days late, but it is done!! Thank you!!

Gautami, you are right!! But I did it!!

Sage, I make them all the time. And, usually I end up doing them, usually...

Polona, you mean it's not just a "man" thing??? Thank you!!

Richard, I don't think that's in Webster's but I'll take it!! I love your last haiku.

MB, not you too. This is more universal than I thought. could be an epidemic!!

Steve, I believe it does.

Urban Butterfly, I do dishes too!! Not much on windows, though.

Andrew, you change diapers, you'll do anything. By the way I did that too.

And I thought it was pure laziness. Glad to have something to replace that with. Thanks Don!!

Trinitystar, always glad to bring a smile!!

Joyce, agreed!!

Vaughn, the lady I live with, so I don't end up living in the woods with the hawk!! Oh, I mopped the bathrooms too. I should be good for a couple of weeks now.

Mandy, you've forgotten Saturdays in Fernandina--cleaning day??
