I used to watch the news
for an hour or two,
every morning,
drinking steamy, black coffee,
never letting the steam
leave the rim of the cup.
Guess, I was trying
to be sophisticated
for upcoming conversations, or
ready to run in case “they”
dropped the bomb
under the crawl space of my house.
Who knows…
Now, I blog around the world
picking up haiku, haiga and poetry,
tidbits of this and that,
all strung together
like the tail of a kite
rising,
rising…
coffee’s cold.

- 2009! 57 years ago in April I was a 2# squealing baby boy. Got a wonderful tan in an incubator. Made friends with plastic tubing, needles and tape. All of which I have zero recollection. I've been well watered and fertilized over the years, and grown quite ripe. Plastic tubing, needles and tape are catalysts for flashbacks without the buzz. Enjoy!

Does this mean you don't watch the news anymore? Yes. Coffee goes better with bloggin'! In fact, it goes better with anything BUT the news. Why spoil a good cup?

some mornings, i set the coffee pot to brewing and get so caught up in these blogs that i forget to even pour my cup before i gotta leave for work . . . i don't function very well before three or four cups in the a.m. . . . if i weren't the boss i'd have to fire me.
There are perks to being the boss!
