Standing on my deck
surveying green thickets, and
gold finches
flitting from twig to feeder,
an ugly, brown moth
lighted by my side.
I brushed it away
without hesitation or thought.
If it’d been a butterfly,
I would’ve let it stay.

I always knew you had a cold, shallow streak in you.
Not hidden very well, is it?
No wonder you still have all your teeth.
I bite too!
I don't like moths either. Love the work, though.
Thanks Nick! Love Crabby Critic. Very entertaining!
very nice!

Pat, my cats love to eat moths. I confess, I don't mind when they do!
Christine, I confess the poem actually happened. I swished my shallowness right over its ugly back.
Ok, now I can make a proper comment. The others turned out poorly, so I apologize for the clutter. I really loved the poem. I found it sad, though. Poor moths, they need love too. (This is Kerri btw)
I knew who you were. Thank you! How's the Indian Ocean??
Indian Ocean is beautiful. It's hot here. I'll pet a coconut crab for you.
Heard about those, last night.
