Toast And Jam

The sun—
a favorite poetic theme,
spread its honey-gold jam
over the lightly toasted ravine,
with the far crusty edge trimmed off
by a serrated muddy creek.

What better way
to take the first bite of day?

Can pass some of the toast and jam over? It's mostly moldy skies here. :)

Nothing ordinary about your poetry here--like you say, the sun has been done to death as a poetic theme, but I would bet no-one ever wrote about it this way!
SO, it seems you have done the impossible here--and made it look easy, too!
As usual...for you...
