Water-Wool Thread

Water-wool sheared
from wild herds of rain
spins the finest crystal thread.
The first time I kiss you
will be stitched to the last, and
you’ll never feel the scratch of a seam
from our beginning to our end.

I have a picture I snapped late one summer in Idaho--of an old Basque sheepherder on a horse, surrounded by wet sheep--it reminds me of your opening line, but then the poem shifts in focus
