Brain Waders

I use hip waders
to wander around my brain.
Some people have cluttered attics
with cobwebs stretching
from lost memories,
to frenzied forays looking where.
Mine’s a swampy bog
with gray-beard moss and
slithering thoughts,
nestled in the tangled essence
of a miasmic fog.
It’s not so bad
being lost
in black-water silence,
as long as you know
to walk around the holes.

somehow this scene gets a bottle-neck slide guitar blues tune going in my mind:

"I use hip waders
(to) wander 'round my brain;
'f I don't fall into a hole,
I won't feel any pain..."

Really struck a note for me. Just moving house so packing up my belongings and memories, and moving on. ( keeping an eye out for
those holes!

Love that interesting (maybe a little frightening) dark water. The metaphores lurking here are most intriguing. And holes, well what can I say! Great job!
