Losing Battle

I like my coffee hot
but inevitably I drink some cold.
I pour new to freshen the tepid taste,
rejuvenate with a microwave blast.
It’s a losing battle,
temporary methods
to bolster an incidental routine.
My tongue and lips have accepted this,
but never in your kiss.

Nice right angle at the end. You're tricky Pat.

This is a good one Pat!
Ya know, ever since I saw you (and you blog site)
I've been rekindling the old poet voice that I once had when I first moved to Ohio in 1975! Many thanks indeed!

Love it! That last line seals it.

Well expressed. I concur about the kissing part...but with coffee I seldom have the problem as I like espresso which is almost never cold before I've finished drinking it.

Kisses just don't microwave very well do they?

Which reminds me - I must get on with some work - but first - a cup of coffee...

Hi!
Thanks for dropping by my blog with the poem for my grandson yesterday.

And your comment, coming from you with much more talents than I --made me feel very proud!!! Thanks again.

Reheated kisses just aren't the same! I've read this a few times now - zinger ending - it has stayed with me. Thanks,
Julia

I'm a tea drinker myself, but the principle is the same.

Kisses should start out warm and only get hotter! Darn. That's the worst thing about being single - no kisses :-(

Great poem!
