All Scratched Up

Sometimes, I’ll have a problem
lay against the back wall of my skull,
and scratch at it like a dog with fleas,

thumpthumpthump
thumpthumpthump...

most irritating to say the least, and
normally in the middle of the night.

I stroke it, massage it,
drag my nail-bitten fingers
over and over its obnoxious hide,

but it sits right where it is,
thumpthumpthump
thumpthumpthump…

The loss of sleep is inconsequential,
putting the Sun over scratched-up skin
wears like hell!

You have put a handle (and it sounds like a few scratch marks too) on something untouchable. Great stuff Pat!

MB, life is OK! Thank you!!

Gautami, sorry for the "too much". It is a condition of being human, at least from time to time. Thank you!!

Kai, thanks thanks thanks!!

In consequential, too much tends to keep the night awake!!

Osquer, for sure!!

Polona, it was really more general than something specific. Just the way I am, sometimes. Obviously, not alone. Thank you!!

Juan Matus, I refuse to let those little boogers run loose after 10 p.m.!! Dire consequences if they do!!

Thank you Margie!!

Whispers, we all are human aren't we?

Dsnake, no headache, a pain somewhere else!!! Thank you!!

Thanks Andrew!! I guess it gets more reverberation there.

Thank you Darth!!

We all do from time to time. Thank you Natalia!!

Amalendu, I have to figure out how to do that. I love it on other sites.
