Spurned Lover

I kicked sleep out of bed at 3:30 a.m.,
tired of cuddling its soft, warm skin;
I had thoughts to wrestle with,
conversations to rehearse prior to being spoken.
Its feelings were probably hurt,
but I had things to worry with,
it’ll just have to get over it when it can.

Yes, those early hours are the "down" times in life. Appropriately expressed here.

You're ruthless, Pat! ;-) Hoping you and sleep spend a more peaceful time together soon.

Gosh, when I have "conversations to rehearse before being spoken", I can't get to sleep!
...going to try some sleep now...

Guess we all know the feeling :o. But those late hours sometimes are the most creative ones so now and again I use the remaining hours to get it on paper/canvas before it is gone with the night.
A 'simple' but very good way to write about the silent hours.
“God, I love it when I discover poetry on the net, happy I discovered you Pat. “

Take a restorative nap today to make up for the lost sleeping beauty rest you lost last night. Good one...again, been there and done that.

Call me if you cannot sleep, remember we are on opposite time zones!

Pat, just one suggestion for your vigorous poem. I think "Conversations to rehearse" works better without the rest of the line.

Especially when you can't get the mind to quiet down. Thanks Joyce!!

Thanks Kai!!

Eric, good to hear from you again!! Hope all is going well. Thanks!!

Polona, hadn't thought of that.

MB, we've come to a truce, albeit, temporary I'm sure. Ruthless??

Thank you Sage!!

Firebird, I hope you slept well.

Andrew, you got it!

Floots, too zombied out to be otherwise. Thanks!!

Liz, I'm glad you discovered my little blog too. Thank you and please come back!!

Actually Don, I did. Thanks!!

Corey an offer I can't refuse!!

Bill, I agree. I thought about changing "prior to being spoken" to "over and over..." as that emphasizes the problem more accurately. All suggestions greatly appreciated.

Thanks Vaughn!!

Gautami, I think being human is the basic cause.

so I am not the only one who worries things over in the middle of the night, when I should be sleeping. I kick sleep out of bed way to often for my health. haha

I just read down this series of poems since I've not been able to read again for a number of days and Pat, I love these slices of life! I hope it's okay if I tell you in one commment, rather than under each one.

Very unique. We've all been there, but I never thought of it in those terms . . .
