Moonshine Muse

Another poem about writing a poem,
which means, my muse is no where to be found.
I’ve looked in the bottle of beer I’m drinking,
she’s not surfing the foamy waves of my thirst.

There are kids across the street
batting a ball over the sound of laughter,
but I don’t see her in the gray of dusk, nor
in the audience of grandparent eyes.

Stirred the stew of paper on my desk,
her carrot head didn’t roll to the top.
She’ll sashay her butt in around dawn, likely,
stinking of shine from the ladle of the moon.

I thought that spring was supposed to bring inspiration? But it has also suppressed mine.
You will get your muse back....

Congratulations, you have won a "Thinking Blog Award" !
I have tagged you for this honor because of your 'thoughtful' poetry. Here is the info that I was sent: (see my blog for more details) : )

Should you choose to participate, please make sure you pass this list of rules to the blogs you are tagging. I thought it would be appropriate to include them with the meme.

The participation rules are simple:

1. If, and only if, you get tagged, write a post with links to 5 blogs that make you think,
2. Link to this post so that people can easily find the exact origin of the meme,
3. Optional: Proudly display the 'Thinking Blogger Award' with a link to the post that you wrote (there is an alternative silver version if gold doesn't fit your blog).

Great way to call the muse. I called my muse by finshing a villanelle!

some of your "museless" poems would be great for ByLine Magazine. I've been reading them for years, and they always include a selection of writing about writing.
