Shoot For The Stars

It’s been awhile
since I shot my potato gun
at the stars

never hit any

but the thunderous fire
that bid farewell
to the missile of its birth

was close enough.

Potato gun? Rings a bell. Where I grew up in Lesotho we may have made these, I think, but called them something else.

It's a vivid image of childhood that I'll be happy to listen to tomorrow when I get to a post stone-age computer.

the feeling of power
the potato and pen now and then.

I'n never seen a potato gun until a friend built one. He demostrated to me one day at dinner, firing it out of his dining room window. Did I saw he was from Mississippi, but he's still a good friend!

Childhood?? Only been a couple of years. Think I'll break it out this weekend and see if I can put another crater on the moon.

Katie, without trying we definitely won't...

Thanks Don!!

Floots,I at least blacked the eye of one or two.

Polona, I hope so.

Celestine Wee, thank you!!

Rethabile, it's probably a good thing I didn't have one as a child, or I should say as a much younger child.

Fotoface, yes, the power of potato and pen!!

Sage, watched a guy shoot a carp with one onenight. I think he was from MS.

Trinitystar, better words than folks.
