Revolving Sacrifice

The sun slid
orange-face smashed
down a blue-altar wall.
It didn’t fall in a hurry,
leave desperation scratches,
it fell g r a d u a l l y
so pine-needle-priests
could sprinkle handfuls of bleeding fire.
A ritualistic blessing,
a promise of rebirth.
Night prayed to the stars in moon-vestments
for a dawn of revolving sacrifice.

Pat, who needs a camera when you can create such vivid images?

It amazes me how you can put what you see into words, and make it appear just as beautiful in words as it is in appearance.

Interesting take on the sunset. Quite grotesque in description, but so vivid... it's beautiful. It's a mix of the sacred with unholy. It's as if your appreciating godliness while being repulsed by it at the same time.
