A Higher Intelligence

Just built a fire for the cat.
She loves to lay in front,
stretch and paw at the carpet,
soaking up the heat in her old bones.
She’ll curl up and nap,
as cats are prone to do,
then stare in the fire, and
let her thoughts wander as any person would.

Hee hee - yes she sounds like a smart one. How else do they get us to wait on them hand and foot?

That sounds like an interesting cat. I've had some cats that got pretty ancient. They're good companions. Best to you through the Hollidays, my friend!

So sweet to make a fire just for the cat.

We Leos, being fire signs, purr all over at the warmth of a fire, which feels like sunshine, only more exciting...

Someone once said that cats are solar-powered...

time to go and light the fire, and the cat will son move from being curled up on the bedcover to her spot in a basket near the woodstove.

I love the mental image that I see when I read this poem. I love elements...

when I think about fire, I think about intensity, heat, passion, and mystery. I can imagine myself laying in front of the fireplace, staring at the burning wood and the flames, and allowing my mind to wander off into deep thought.

BTW, Happy New Year, Pat!

Hi Pat
Aren't cats fun to watch?? Of course we have no fireplace here, so our cat likes to climb between my keyboard and computer screen and stand there until she's been rubbed to her satisfaction.

I am purring right now, beautiful poem.

My cat likes to sleep under my arm-if my arm is in the wrong position she moves it. My personal favourit however is when I traipse freezing to the bathroom in the dead of night and she follows me convinced that I must have been woken by a feeling that she might be hungry and have got up especialy to feed her.
