Squinting Rosewood

I woke this morning
to my brain sweeping
the detritus of dreams
under the rug of a first yawn.
The sun, with feathers of birdsong,
wiped the dust of darkness off
the squinting rosewood of day.

Yes I feel the morning grogginess in that one. I posted a poem at my site - I think you will like it.

I just woke up and came to this excellent poem... and for me, timed appropriately.

Oh, I really like your images of waking up Pat. Ditto Floots on the last line.

Nice poem--I love waking up to birds singing--you add a nice touch with the "feathers dusting"

a brain that does housework before you even get up! what a jewel!
and such great images you find at the crack of dawn.
