I could mop the linoleum floors
that call this house home.
Scrub their hides free
of every step and scuff made,
on the thin-skin of flimsy rubber backs.
These old tiles need
to stay pine-scented fresh,
the angel of hardwood,
with scrapper and nail gun,
is circling nigh at hand.

You're applying for the maid position I've been advertisting, aren't you?:)
Love this one, Pat.
Anticipation personified!
What interesting challenges you give yourself — writing about the very most everyday. "Angels of hardwood" is good!
tiles which have soaked up so many memories
(as well as more unpleasant things) :)
Nice one Pat. On hands and knees no less...
would you come and scrub my floor (there's plenty of beer in the fridge)?
good one!
You do bring a variety of topics to your poetry!
Very good one!
Very threatening, hope the linoleum has the good sense to listen.....haha
lots of work! :)
We're decorating today so this struck a chord-sanding and scrubbing-yuck I only like the painting bit-sounds like you feel the same
excellent as always . . .
Sounds like the linoleum's days are few...I considered a request recently to put in linoleum, but then read about the methods of care, and went instead to the woods. Something culturally wholesome about linoleum though, like a classic movie. At least that's what I ended up thinking about here - can smell that pine scent, too!
You'll make some lucky lady a great husband Pat! To have a man who writes great poetry and mops! Wow! You spoiling the male market there!
when i was young , my old place had linoleum floors, and it's hell to maintain. your poem certainly brings back memories. :)
To Hell with the linoleum and old tile! The angel has good taste.
Yes ma'am, but I won't wear a thong!!! Thank you!
Yes it is!! Thanks Joyce!!
My life is sooooo ordinary!!! Thank you Mary Beth!!
Floots, more reason to oust the boogers!!
Don, I have, but I try not to make a habit of it. Thank you!!
Polona, let me think...beer, or wear a thong??? I'll be there!!!
Margie I keep my shelves well stocked with a variety of everyday!! Thank you!!
Nea, apparently it doesn't. Someone should invent self-cleaning flooring!!
Andrew thinking about it scared me off...for another week anyway.
Sue, I'd rather clean floors than paint. That job gives me the shivers. It's taken over 2 years to do a 2 day paint job on my boat. At my pace it's an ongoing job.
Eric, thank you!!
Steve, the linoleum is out. Hardwoods coming soon!!
Ah, Medusa, is it fact or fiction??
Dsnake, I hope they weren't all bad. Thanks!!
QNT, yes the Angel does!!
