They Look Like Me

I’ve read Oliver, Collins, Angelou,
taken a nip of old bard Bill,
Byron, Thomas, e.e., WCW, and even
Hemingway spilled gin on some verse.

Stood my words in front
of the reflection of theirs,
sucked their gut in, brushed wild hairs,
plucked a nose hair or twenty,

slid panty hose over bulbous stanzas,
covered metaphors with fat stubby fingers,
cracked the mirror with a flying keyboard,
they still looked like me.

Uh-oh. You've got a kind of courage. I don't even want to think about what mine look like.

I knew you had that weird panty-hose thing going on. I just didn't think you'd write about it here, SICKO.

I just want to know how do you do it?

I like the sustained "dressing" metaphor you have used here.

I don't think it's such a bad thing that they look like you. But I might be kind of partial...I never conversed with any of the others on a blog, either. Ha. :o)

Pat...poetry is a part of our therapy. Yours speaks volumes about you and who you are. I think that's why I enjoy reading what you write. Blessings brave soul.

Hi Pat! Sounds like you are driven to write. Personally, I use it like a drive thru. Can't help myself, feel flippant today!

MB, I assure you yours look a whole lot better than mine!!

AA, you never complained about it before!!

Margie, I guess I have too much time on my hands?? Thank you!!

Mikaelah, yeah, they really do itch!!

Polona, I certainly hope not. No matter, they always will won't they?

Thank you Joyce!! I personally prefer the "undressing" anythings, but...

Andrew, I would've never taken you for an e.e. man. More of a Whitman, or Thoreau...

Kibitzing??? More like zingers I think!!

Camera, yeah, these computer screens are getting expensive!! Thank you for the link, I added you to mine too.

Whitney, your partiality is a pleasure to have!!

Don, I appreciate your kind comments!!

Thanks, Jon Cox!!

Floots, that doesn't surprise me. Alone we come, alone we leave!! thanks!!

Plus, I hope it's a pleasant surprise!! thanks for coming!!

Sue "stockings" does provide a certain "sibilancy" to the line doesn't it. Thank you!!

Thank you Christine!!

Russell, flippant ain't bad!! You are right. It's become an addiction!!

Dsnake, I'm glad you like it!! That info is closely held. I'm sure there's some keyboard preservation group just waiting to jail me for keyboard abuse!!

Mandy, I'd rather make you smile, than frown. Sure I've done that enough!!

Pris, I guess my secret is out. At my age what's a few relocated hairs??

Kai, thank you!!
