Wild Hairs

Where do you go
when the last email is sent?
Do you snuggle-up warm
under the enter key, or
kayak hours of rollercoaster cyber-rapids?
Maybe, you wrap your arms and legs
around the night’s last note
of an old “beater” guitar.
Questions! Questions!
that don’t need answers,
just wild hairs sprouting
in the cracks of my thoughts.

Great one that brought a smile. When you reach OUR age, we need all the hair we can get...

Oh, my! ...you really are very funny. Thanks for helping me meet my laughter quota this morning!

Me too! It's not morning here but I'm sitting at my desk having a good laugh. You really have a talent for threading a delicate needle! Thanks Pat!

"Do you snuggle-up warm
under the enter key" I see a tiny fuzzy cyber critter whose pin-prick eyes are glowing at me from beneath the keyboard! Is that the cpu humming or a miniscule purrrrrrr?

Very powerful. I was moved. And last two lines are absolutely beautiful.

great imagery again!
funny, but with serious undertones...

Maybe I'm reading this wrong, but I don't see this as a humorous poem, necessarily, but as something entirely different. At any rate, pure Pat Paulk style to this one.:)

Hi,
Back again to wish you a happy first anniversary of the FFMB.
I like the contrast of emotion and cyberspace in your poem. Interesting.

You might wanna be careful
with those sprouting wild hairs,
'cuz they do get in the way
plucking them all out
one by one
is painful to be sure
but the pain's gotta be less
than the pull of hot wax

"just wild hairs sprouting / in the cracks of my thoughts" -- I understand this is a side effect of hormonal changes in middle-aged men (I speak from experience here). Good to see I'm not the only middle-aged man with wild hairs sprouting in my cracks Pat ... ;-)

I go stretch tired fingers,
that wove at tapestry
with fibers that link worlds.

Thank you for visiting my blog and for taking the time to leave such a wonderful comment. I enjoyed visiting and reading your work as well.

Hey Pat, just read one of new additions to webster dictionary for this year the word -Mouse Potato. And you have offered here the poetic definition of the same word. :-)

I really like this, Pat. I guess I read it with a more philosophical bent and enjoyed it from that direction.

We're all out here or there or maybe in between - very nice, Pat (it did oddly get me thinking about cleaning my keyboard)

Wow, a powerful response to a disheartening event.

[P.S. my browser was stuck back on your Aug 8th entry. I thought you were on a vacation or something. I was confused, though, as you were still leaving comments for everyone. I have some catching up now to do. :-)]

Ah yes, Pat. A lonely strain punctuates this finely meandering and thoughtful piece.

Wonderful question pat, and quite comforting really.
The comfort of hitting that last key at night - for me - is like a period to the days chores.
Ahhh...

MB, always a pleasure to meet laughter quotas!!

Except when I stick myself with the needle. Thanks Russell!!

Osquer, there's so little known about cyber critters. Are they friendly? Or, patiently waiting to take over the world?

Floots, I plan too!!

Thanks Vaughn!! Vacation, what's that?
