On The Menu

I looked into the black face
of my first cup of coffee,
studied the steam
rising over nervous bubbles, and
up the turret sides of ceramic walls.
It was time for this rumination
to be taken to a post of sorts,
and executed as an offender of habit.
With each taste it died without whimper,
sip and slurp by whip of lips and tongue.
The ham and swiss for lunch
will be tooth decay for lions.

I am studying my steam as I type. Not too carefully really, because I need to get the caffeine in my system asap!

I am glad to hear your voice again.

Ah, coffee ... can't live with it ... can't live without it. Enjoyed! And I loved hearing the dulcet tones of your voice once more, Pat.
