Weather Report

Fog hangs like viscera
from a disemboweled morning sky,
a tragic event of water saturated air.

A male dog hikes-up in sympathy
on the feet of commiserating trees,
mallards paddle in a mourning line,

squirrels chatter eulogies limb to limb,
the lake holds a moment of silence,
all respects paid, the afternoon looks good.

now if the local weather reports were anything like yours I might tune in more often - and aren't male dogs always sympathetic of something or at least always hiked up or mid hike or post hike and looking for the next hike????

Pat, this is exactly how it looked where I live today: foggy morning, then a mild and watery sun burned off the fog in the afternoon. Lovely poem.

Nice to have a glimpse of the tribute ceremonies when the folks have gone to town for the official ones.

You are so prolific and the imageries are so fresh, the line I like is the squirrels chattering eulogies! And may all your afternoons be good!
